
RAF Waddington, March 5, 2025 – The Royal Air Force Aerobatics Team, the Red Arrows, welcomed a diverse group of UK Flying Display Directors (FDDs) and regulators for the second consecutive year at their home base. This engaging and informative event provided attendees with a comprehensive insight into the operations of one of the worlds premier aerobatic teams.
The purpose of the day was to offer FDDs and regulators a behind-the-scenes look at the meticulous processes that underpin the Red Arrows’ performances. Participants gained valuable knowledge through a series of briefings detailing the team's supervisory and management structure, the construction of displays, and the critical considerations for safety that account for wind and weather conditions.
A highlight of the event was the demonstration of new maneuvers for the 2025 display season, showcasing the team's dedication to innovation and excellence. The attendees observed how the formations are adjusted for optimal visual perspectives from the crowd and how site safety and risk assessments are integral to successful flight operations.
The event was hosted by Officer Commanding the RAF Aerobatics Team, Wing Commander Adam Collins, alongside Red 10, Squadron Leader Graeme Muscat.
