Caring for the Community, A kind gesture between nations.

In a heartfelt gesture of support, the German Air Force EuroFighter 2000 Display Team and the German Army NH90 Display Team presented a check for €3,333.33 to the Slunovrat Elderly Home in Ostrava. The presentation took place on [specific date], with key figures including German Defence Attaché Lt. Col. Wiland Oerter, EuroFighter Display Pilot Captain Alex Stegmair, and NH90 Pilot Markus Doring, who delivered the cheque to Slunovrat Director Mr. Vojtěch Curylo.

This fundraising initiative was a collaborative effort between the display teams and the Defence Attaché, aimed at providing support to the Ostrava region following the devastating floods that impacted the area just days before the scheduled 2024 NATO Days event. The natural disaster necessitated the use of the airport as a base for humanitarian efforts, leading to the unfortunate cancellation of the show where Germany was set to be the partner nation.

Recognizing the need for assistance, the teams and the German Embassy sought alternative means to express their solidarity and support in the wake of the flooding. The decision to raise funds for the Slunovrat Elderly Home reflects their commitment to helping the community recover from this crisis and underscores the strong bonds forged through NATO alliances.

"The cancelled NATO Days event was a disappointment for many, but it was crucial that we find a way to stand by the residents of Ostrava during this challenging time," stated Captain Stegmair. "This donation is a small but meaningful effort to support those affected and reaffirm our commitment to the community."

Director Mr. Curylo expressed his gratitude during the cheque presentation, remarking, "This generous donation will go a long way in helping our residents and supporting our ongoing efforts to provide care during this difficult period. We are thankful for the kindness and solidarity shown by our friends from Germany."

The presentation highlights the resilience and camaraderie shared between nations, emphasizing the depth of relationships that exist within the airshow community, its often said that airshows are about people, this demonstrates it further. It also showcases the commitment of military teams to serve not just in their roles but also as compassionate members of the communities they interact with.
